It may be the fan motor, but a failed run capacitor often stops a fan starting (it may hum but not spin). Have it checked before replacing the motor — a capacitor is a much cheaper fix.

Can a faulty outdoor fan cause the system to trip out?

Yes — if the outdoor fan isn’t moving air across the coil, the system can’t reject heat and may trip on a high-pressure fault, especially on hot days.

Does the replacement fan come with the capacitor and guard?

How ActronAir Outdoor Fans Are Built

Axial fans — the propeller-style fan in the top or side of the condenser, sized roughly 400mm to 800mm, from brands such as EBM-papst, ZAplus and Weiguang.
AC fans — fixed-speed (single-phase, paired with a matched run capacitor; some are supplied without the capacitor).
EC fans — efficient electronically commutated fans (often 3-phase) that vary speed for quieter, more efficient operation.
Fan guards and kits — protective grilles (sized to the fan) and complete fan kits.

Signs Your Outdoor Fan May Be Failing

The outdoor fan isn’t spinning while the unit is running (sometimes it hums but doesn’t start).
The outdoor unit runs hot, or the system trips out on a high-pressure fault.
